Cell Biology PowerPoint Lectures
The Power Point lectures available through these web pages are actual lectures used in 100-level college biology courses. The list of Cell Biology PPT lectures is near the bottom of this page. Please check back regularly, as these lectures are usually updated every 8 to 16 weeks.
NOTE!! If You're Having PROBLEMS DOWNLOADING A LECTURE ...
PROBLEM: 'Help! I get a 'BANDWIDTH EXCEEDED' message when I try to download a PowerPoint lecture!' - Science Prof Online is a Google website, and only allows for a certain amount of site traffic and downloads at any particular time.
SOLUTION: If you try to download a PPT lecture and get that message, just try again later. You'll have the best luck downloading lectures during non-peak hours, such as very late at night or very early in the morning. Keep trying! The lectures are worth the effort! Thanks for your patience.
What You Will Find Here
Fill-in-the-blank and Notes Format
Fill-in-the-blank
The information on the Power Point slides in each lecture contains blanks that the students fill in. If find that having blanks encourages the student to follow along (rather than drift off) and encourages attendance.
At the end of each Power Point lecture I have included a key to the words that go in the blanks. I have included the key for instructors use. I don't recommend that you give it to the students, as that would defeat the purpose of having the fill-in-the-blank format to the lectures.
PowerPoint Notes
Some of the slide also have notes included (which you can see by going to the Format pull down menu in PowerPoint and selecting notes). When notes are included in the lecture PowerPoints, these are usually slide topics that I ask the student for information, to encourage an interactive class experience.
The way I use these slides is as follows. Before class, I create question card and, in class, have pairs of students pick from the "deck". Each card pertains to a slide topic and include questions.
Prior to the start of lecture, the students look up the information that their question card specifies. Then during lecture, when I get to the PPT slide that relates to their question, I ask them to provide the information, and we discuss it as a class.

Giving Credit Where Credit Is Due
This is a collection of lectures that I have given repeatedly, always tweaking and changing as I try to improve them. The materials in the lectures have been gathered from a multitude of places. Textbooks, my head, the Power Point lectures of other instructors.
Some of the lectures include credits for all images and material. But as this is a time-intensive process, I have not completed this task for all lectures.
If you run across an image or material that you are the author of, please contact me at tamiport@yahoo.com. I will either give you proper credit for your work, remove the material from this website, whichever you'd prefer.
Corrections
Although I have spent a great deal of time creating these lectures, no doubt there is an error or two (or possibly more). If you find a mistake, please drop me an email (tamiport@yahoo.com) so that I can make a correction.
